Furry babies

Despite the weekend's bout of nightmares and the family dog dying
(and despite my mother crying on the phone to me, saying she thought
I was dead because I didn't reply to her text within 24 hours) I feel ok today.
Thank you to everyone who sent me hugs on Facebook ♥

I call him 'the family dog' because my parents basically shared him
with my brother's busy family, having been neighbors for many years.
Having two cats and living in another town, me and my man were not
as close to the big fuzzy boy as the rest, but he was a total sweetheart.
He died from acute pneumonia, 36 hours after starting to show symptoms.
His lungs were probably older than he appeared. He was 10 years old.

I have wanted a dog of my own for a long time. If it weren't for my cat lady
I would have a cute little pit-bull by now (my favorite dog). I think our
boy cat would come around to a puppy, just as he comes around to
any cat or human pretty quickly. But my girl kitty would probably leave,
and that would break my heart. She is 14-15 years old and my first cat,
and therefore she gets as much say in the matter as us humans do.
But in the future I see myself the mommy of a big mixed furry family,
who all love and play with each other.

    1. Her daughter has had a life since she was 17 and went to Australia on her own - then moved to England, then to America. But if anyone is wondering where my anxiety and probably Borderline comes from, well...

  2. Ahh overprotective parents. Been there!

I am so sorry the furry friend died! They are so special and give us something humans cannot! One day you will have a big hug pile of furchildren to love! It is good to consider your fur children's feelings about other pets.

    1. My kitties' feelings are very important to me, since I know what stress and anxiety are like. If I'm gonna bring personalities together, I want them to be happy.

  3. Sorry to hear about that good old dog. I understand why you respect your cat's wishes. They rule us with an iron paw.

    1. I don't know about the iron paw. I feel like my kitties are very sensitive (just like me) and any disturbance may cause great distress. There is a deep love and trust between us that I could never jeopardize, since at the end of the day, kitties are very much at human beings' mercy.

  4. Aaaw furbabies...they make us happy...we cry when they leave. I don't want kids, I had 3 bunnies and currently own a dog. (BTW I e-mailed you).

No kids for us either, but I still want a family.

  5. Our furry friends have pure hearts and happy minds, this is why we love them and miss them so much when they leave! I love how much you tell us about their personalities and how much you care...

    1. Every cat I have had has been a person in their own right, with a particular personality that differentiates them from the rest. Only people who don't have pets would lump them together as the same!

  6. She looks lovely cats are abnormal creatures but if set in their ways change is nevergood. Mind sister had a couple of kittens and a puppy . Growing up they loved each other company out side both hated other cats and dogs.

At the momment, I've suggested about cats and labourdoodles, to my partner but he's not open to the dog but open to cat. He suggested about adopting over looked cats except for feral due to lack outside space.

    1. Dogs are a much bigger responsibility than cats, I know this too, and that's one of the main reasons to why we don't have one. I totally think you guys should get a cat (or two)!

  7. I am so sorry to hear about the lost of your family pet. It really is heartbreaking when a fur baby departs. To me, they are more than family - at least my family! Lol! They give me unconditional love!

    1. I think any creature who is attached to us day in and day out will get a big piece of our hearts - at least they should!

    1. Even when she has ticks and scratches on her face, she's my beautiful baby <3 I can't believe she's considered almost geriatric now!

  13. Sending love, dear friend. I really love that you are sensitive to your kitties' needs. So many people introduce fur babies into the family without considering the personalities and needs of the older members. Unfortunately, Moo didn't have a choice because Pumpkin came to live with us after Mom died ... but Mom made sure to bring him to my apartment during the holidays so that the kids could meet and know each other's smell. Moo adjusted pretty quickly, thankfully. Pumpkin is wary of her, but loves her to pieces.

As far as Moms go, OY! Mom used to do the same thing to me. Mom's will be Moms.

    1. Yes, mothers....

Of course you had to take in your mom's baby, I would too! But I have a choice, and I know pets don't live forever, so I can wait :)

    1. In Sweden we don't have homeless dogs and any dog (whether mutt, old and/or disobedient) will set you back hundreds of dollars - so when the time comes it will be a conscious effort :)

  15. Sorry about the family dog :-(

  16. Parents can be... strange creatures. My last procedure took my voice away for a day or two, so I only texted my dad instead of calling (we speak every day). His second text said something about how it was okay if I didn't want to talk to him, since he knew he wasn't as interesting as the rest of my life. But that he still loved, even if I didn't want to talk to him. A bit nuts, parents.

I'm sorry about the family dog, I hope there wasn't too much pain in the end.

    1. My mother is wonderful and generous but she has no boundaries, and her needs often pave right over the rest of us. When I notice myself behaving like her I shudder.

I haven't talked to my brother, only texted so far. But I think it was very quick for the furry boy, and he had a good life.

  17. I really am sorry about losing the family dog. I'm also sorry that your Mom called you like that. Moments like that can be extremely stressful and upsetting. *hugs*
Your kitties are so cute! I love that you give your kitties say.

  18. I am so sorry about the family dog! Sending you big healing hugs! Keep taking deep breaths when it comes to your mom. Remember, how people act towards you, has nothing to do with you, it's all about them. This has helped me so much when "looking" at situations! I love your girl kitty!!! Give her a hug from me!
