I know some of my Western friends are snowed in at the moment
but over here the snow is gone, and I am finally ready to face the new year.
I have been kicking off with a spring cleaning and redecorating.
We reorganized the living room - again (it's a tricky room, narrow with 4 doorways)
and put an add on one of those "Free stuff" groups on Facebook and got rid of
the old fat TV + station that's been collecting dust for months (in under 5 hours!).
I completely tossed my craft room, organized every single item and even made room
for my man's standing desk. The chaise-lounge was moved into the main bathroom
to make room for a small work desk for myself in the bedroom window nook.
Now all I need is a an old armchair to complete the look. (More pictures to come)
My house project list is as long as our cottage is old, and with every change
comes a new challenge. 150-year-old houses don't have enough storage space
for modern living, and any extra spaces are all weird nooks and crannies.
The rooms are very dark and the ceilings are low, making overhead lamps difficult.
I can count the furniture younger than 50 years on my one hand, since nothing
new fits, neither in style nor in size. Decorating is a never-ending labor of love.
I hope I'm not stressing anyone out with this post, I know I'm early.
I am very happy with how the redecorating has turned out so far
and it's really refreshing once one has mustered up the energy
and started ticking things off the list, but to get started - well...
I could probably call this the spring cleaning of 2014 = long overdue.
