Rodarte fall/winter collection

Today I am going from writing about stuff on the more serious side
(in my last post) to something much more frivolous - fashion!

It's been a while since I did a fashion inspiration post,
but when I came across these beautiful dresses I just couldn't resist.
They are from Rodarte's current collection and right up my alley,
with lace, velvet and rich colors. I love the medieval style empire cuts.

It's even got something for the nerds
- check out the Yoda and the Death Star skirts!

Which one is your favorite?

  1. Very geeky and cool indeed! I'd love to wear some of these, but I think it might be impossible to afford them...

    1. I never expect to afford any of he dresses in my inspirations posts, only to inspired by them :) I'm not a fashion person, I only like pretty dresses!

    1. I know I'm not very hip, with the long velvet gowns. It probably feels outdated to someone in their 20's, but I love it :)

    2. Outdated? Not at all. I love the fabrics and lines but when it comes to patterns, nooo. Black with black and a little bit of black - yes, I am THAT boring:-/

  3. I love all the fabrics and colors and sparkling highlights and the Star Wars skirts are awesome too. :)

    1. It's good to be shallow and frivolous for a while, isn't it? :)

  4. I'm always cold! so the last style would make me very happy in this doom and gloom winter season! Isn't it lovely when females dress like females who have respect for themselves?
Keep an eye on your snailman, a package from northern Canada is heading your way....fingers crossed, xoxoxoDebi

    1. Agreed, we usually have 5 months of cold weather here, so I love the maxi dresses.

I am keeping an eye out, and I finally got my packages in the mail - so, so should you :)

  5. I really love that style.

My favourites are both of the black ones and the Yoda.

I think I may have missed your previous post! ♥

    1. Blogging can be sensitive and complicated, and I know all about missing out on a post and feeling completely left out. I hope you figure this whole business out.

  6. Those are pretty cool. I really like the green one at the top but I also really like the black one on the bottom. And the Death Star dress is awesome! The look on her face!

    1. Sometimes you just have to take a break and look at pretty dresses, right? :)

  7. I think I like Yoda - love the top of the dress and the skirt has beautiful colors that almost look like it is ablaze. I love the way it is swirling around her legs like flames. But I agree with Laura - the look on the Death Star models face is a hoot.

    1. I can never get over how bored models look! I always think about how they have had to skip dinner, like forever - and how cranky that would make me :)

  8. I love the Yoda dress! I'm not sure if I like the turtle neck dresses, but they are a very interesting approach. I love the lace and rich colors too! I actually went to the fabric store today but couldn't decide on what fabric I wanted so I just bought a pattern that was on sale for 2 dollars.

    1. I hope the pattern works out for you! I've done that too, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

    2. It was a cloak/cape pattern. We are going to try an experiment in expanding patterns and make a copy of the pattern on tissue paper or butchers paper (I think that's what Amanda's Mom called it), for me. That way, I still have a smaller size for anyone smaller than me who needs one made. I have friends and family of all shapes and sizes, and I want to make things for them, but I think if I ever get an etsy shop going, I want to cater more toward larger women and men and keep my prices lower.

      Radera
    3. I think that sounds like a great ide. From what I understand it's pretty easy opening a shop on Etsy.

  9. I like the green viney one although I would prefer a more a-line skirt. Also the black one bottom left with silver sparkles.

    1. I kind of knew you'd like the green fairy one :) - I wish they'd done the purple like that!

    2. I saw a tree today with purply leaves! So magical!

  11. I'd wear that Death Star one ALL THE TIME!! I also really like the first one. :)

    1. I really like the purple one too (obviously), I just wish it wasn't a turtle neck.

      Radera
    2. Agreed. The turtle neck isn't something I'd prefer, but that color is amazing!

  12. Looooove the green one. Being a little wood spirit myself :P I am loving the use of velvet and lace in recent collections. My two favourite things.

  13. I really like the strapless one with the silvery top, but I might do unspeakable things for the green one. Sooo gorgeous!

    1. I know, that green one is like something straight out of Lord of the Rings!

      Radera
  14. I like the black and gray one with the skull (bone?) on the skirt. The rest are a bit too patchworky for me although I like Empire waists. Have a lovely week!

    SvaraRadera
  15. The green elfish one caught my eye the most. I don't think I could wear such long dresses, I'm too short and would trip over the material the bottom.
