5 things that make me happy right now

I have been dealing with some stuff lately, most of it coming from
inside my head. I have had strange emotions and physical pain
that I don't recognize as my own. New meds will sometimes do that,
and all you can do is dig in and try to ride out the storm.

It's all cliché - but I'm trying to take things one day at a time, focus on
the smaller, manageable things, and doing and surrounding myself with
more of what makes me happy. And these are a few of those:

1. Our new sheets. They are purple and black, and huge.
They were my birthday gift to my man. Yes, he wanted purple :)

2. It's getting colder, so the kitties are back in bed with us.
My baby girl spent all evening and last night sleeping at my feet.

3. Halloween is approaching fast but I feel like it's going to work out.
This year I feel more confident and relaxed organizing everything.

4. My new lamp. It makes our bedroom super cozy
and the light makes everything prettier.

5. There's a big flea market on the square tomorrow.
I love thrifting, it's the perfect start to the weekend.

What makes you happy right now?

  1. Those are all great things! I've really been struggling with my OCD recently, it gets worse with stress and lack of sleep. Things that are helping alleviate that stress are my fiance and my cats. My cat Gim has been super cuddly, he makes me so happy. Soon I'll be going on vacation to look at the fall leaves up north, that will be fun, and of course I too *love* Halloween. I'm going to be making gluten free Halloween cookies. :) I hope they taste good lol.

    1. I'm sorry you've been struggling. I hope your baby, cats and the fall leaves will help a bit. I remember the fall in the States, it is beautiful.

My niece has celiac disease so I'm looking forward to seeing whether your cookies work out or not. It's tough baking without gluten!

    1. Thank you, Debi! I strive to make every part of my home as cozy as possible :) I think I finally got the bedroom to how I want it.

  3. Oh my! The sheets and lamp are utterly gorgeous! And everything is better with kitties! ❤

I hope you start feeling better soon! This has been a crazy year for so many of us in Blogland. At the moment, I'm just happy my son got the short film he's been working on for months finished. He's entered it into a youth film festival. I hope he gets selected, but even if he doesn't, it was a great accomplishment... and the house isn't in a constant state of panic now that it's done! ;)

    1. Wow, that sounds exciting! It really is a great accomplishment, even if he doesn't go on. My man and I would love to make a horror movie (or game) sometime. I wish him luck!

Yes, it's been a crazy year - or the bloggers in our community have just started to feel safe enough to share the ugly maybe..?

  4. I am very into that lamp. >shaking fist at all the inherited midcentury modern furnishings in my house<

    1. You know, in Sweden my style is basically non-existent - and most Swedes would kill for 50's and 60's furniture :)

  5. Here's one more cliche for ya; it's good to enjoy the little things ;)

    1. Thank you, I do have a lot of Moroccan/Indian influences. It's just so cozy!

  7. I hope the strangeness you're feeling slips away as quickly as it arrived, so your mind can settle and get back to the way it should be.

When I first saw the cat image, it honestly looked like a pic of my two girls!

I love the bedsheets and lamp. Yay for purple!

    1. I know, when I've seen pictures of your babies I have always first seen mine :)

Some of the strangeness is already dissipating, but unfortunately the new cocktail doesn't seem to be doing anything for me.

      ALWAYS yay for purple :)

    1. Me too, it is totally enough to see the leaves and feel the cold breeze.

  9. I do hope that the strange emotion/pain that you have been experiencing will pass quickly. I love your new sheets and lamp! Purple is definitely one of my fave colors second only to green. Right now the things that make me happy... hmm... Well I am enjoying a lazy day with friends and my bf with plans to grill tonight which is exciting. =)

    1. Thank you! Lazy days sound lovely.

Green is a good color, calming and nurturing. And it goes so well with purple :)

  10. I am enjoying the change of colours in the trees. Sadly it is too hot again outside.

Oh and I LOVE the picture of the cats! I miss my black cat.

    1. It is properly wet and cold here now, but I love it.

I miss my third baby, even though she's been gone for several years now. Cats and dogs are so easy to love.

  11. Where did you find those sheets? I have been looking for some goth-ish style bedding over on Amazon but just haven't found what I want. It's one of those things that you know it when you see it.
    Your lamp is lovely!
Things that make me happy are the mulled cider candle lit on the bar, the patio door open, the kitties, and the lovely fall weather we're starting to get. I actually sat in Corbin Park (that's our Frisbee golf course park that's right along the Spokane River) today and started a short story for my writing class. The river was so pretty and aside from the occasional Frisbee Golfer traipsing through the trees and by my car, it was a great way to start the morning.

    1. Oh, I searched high and low for these sheets! Two months it took me, but finally I found them at H&M home. Who knew.

I like your list. I wish we had better scented candles in Sweden. Most of them are cheap and useless.

  12. Purple sheets? Damn, your man's a keeper! What an awesome combination: lantern, sheets, & kits. :) Making me happy: stashing yarn for Autumn knitting, working on Yuletide ornaments for the Grands. Hope the med-ride calms down for you soonest.

    SvaraRadera

    1. Yup, he certainly is :)

Oh, have you been knitting and posting at your X-mas blog? I haven't been checking in with you but I will now!

  13. That lamp! It is amaziiiiing! That gypsy style! Oh yes your man is a keeper, purple sheets are gorgeous!

  14. Gorgeous sheets, Ms. Misantropia! You're making me seriously rethink the new white ones I've just purchased... not because I like white, but because I thought they'd make it easier to spot any big spiders BEFORE crawling into bed.

    SvaraRadera
    Svar
    1. Ok, that's just nasty. You find spiders in your bed on a regular basis?!

I have been thinking about getting all black sheets too, but maybe I should rethink that...

  15. I adore that lamp. Cleaning and getting rid of stuff is what makes me happy right now.

    1. That sounds like a good plan. But as soon as there's any empty space I have a tendency to fill it...

  16. I hope your meds even out and give you some peace. I love the light your lamp gives off. So romantic

  17. It seems we've been drinking from the same fountain waters. I'm sure some of the ailments annoying me at the moment belong to someone else. They just aren't mine. I'm also taking it one day at a time; doing anything else would be madness... or time travel.

LOVE that lamp! And I hope you had a glorious time at the flea market.

    1. ...and my doctor just told me that if I want to be on that drug (which actually is helping my mind) I will have to live with the physical side effects... *sigh*

I hope we both feel better soon!
