Year without shopping - May update

This will be a very short update since May has been full of love, friends
and family, and there just hasn't been much time for anything else.
A couple of weeks ago I brought home a couple of t-shirts from the store,
to sleep in and that had been on sale for many months. They count as
underwear and therefore don't effect my 'No shopping' rules.

After sorting through my closet and summer clothes I have a small
mountain of dresses sitting by the sewing machine, ready to be mended.
Mostly it's just a strap that needs attaching or a seam that needs closing,
and I just need to get my ass out of the wagon and do it (Swedish saying).

All in all it has been a very good month, shopping wise and other :)
I am slowly getting back into the blog swing and tomorrow I will be back
with a proper post - with pictures and everything!

  1. "I need to get my ass out of the wagon and do it." What a great saying! I have to admit, my ass may be in my wagon a little too much... Congrats on new sleeping Ts (my fav sleeping gear too), and for not breaking your no shopping rule. Have an awesome week!

    1. Sayings typical to an area are interesting to me, but it is also interesting how many countries also share similar sayings.

  2. Ha! I love that saying, we have a similar one in Wales 'get my ass into gear and do it'.
Looking forward to your future posts, and so glad your life is back on track :)

    1. One's ass seems to be featured in many a saying in the Germanic/Anglo-Saxon parts of the world :)

  3. When life is too full of happy events to write, that is a good thing!

I have downsized a lot of my stuff recently, got rid of a lot, although I am still allowed to buy new clothes.

    1. I wish I knew how to get rid of stuff. Mostly I'm hoping to have worn out some clothes at the end of this year, so I can throw it out.

  4. We have a saying here, too ... sh*t or get off the pot. Rude, eh? Sounds like it's been a wonderful few weeks. :)

    1. That's sounds like a saying we have around here. "Get the thumb out of the ***hole".
      :O

  5. I actually have a few small shopping bags in the garage full of old t-shirt that Skoora and I liked and held on to. We were planning to make a t-shirt quilt out of them and I've been putting it off. Guess, I will have to get out of the wagon too! Good luck with your sewing and I hope you have many more happy filled days!

    1. A quilt is a big project, I would probably put it off too. Maybe you can make something else?

  6. I need to dig out my sewing machine too... And hope that my hands and skills haven't gone rusty. Seems like a great challenge you set yourself! (Couldn't do it myself... Not in a million years. I'm not very strong willed when it comes to clothes. I mean... THEY SPEAK TO ME! :))

    1. Oh, they speak to me too, for too many years - hence the challenge... :)

  8. All the sayings in the comments are cracking me up! You're soooo strong with the shopping ban, I'm incredibly impressed! Who needs shopping when you have love though ;)

    1. The 'no shopping' cannot be done until you are completely ready for it. If it sounds horrible from the start you are probably just setting yourself up to fail - then don't do it. I waited until I felt absolutely exhausted by my hoarding, just like I did last time (which was over 10 years ago) - that's when it works :)
