Grow your blog!

This is a blog party all about finding new blogs and blog friends
and gaining more followers - and I think it's wonderful idea!

http://vicki-2bagsfull.blogspot.se/

I started blogging as Ms Misantropia almost exactly 3 years ago,
and my first few entries were in my native language, Swedish.
Pretty soon though, I realized that English was the better option,
to reach more people but also because I live half my life in English anyway
(since my partner is American and since I also lived "over there" for a while).

I blog about things that interest me, that fit the season and my mood(iness)
= interior design, food, creative projects, books, movies, fashion, gardening...
There isn't really a red thread to my blog, more like a dark and purple one :)
But to give you an idea I made a collage of some of last year's pictures:

I know our hostess Vicki encourages people to share their names,
but I blog under an alias since I'm a bit of a "public" figure in our small town.
I'm not as light and bubbly in person as my job in retail requires
and sometimes I write about heavy stuff, like my depression or feminism.
More info on me can be found under 'About' at the top of my sidebar!

My blogging goals for 2014 are somewhat uncertain. I've been thinking
about doing a year without shopping and instead concentrating more on
creative projects, specifically sewing. But some of it depends on what
Migrations say about my man - if he's allowed to stay or has to leave.

A big thank you to Vicki at 2 Bags Full for hosting this party,
and to any new visitors I would just like to say:
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again!

  4. I didn't know you started blogging in Swedish. I'm glad you gave us the English option or I would have never been able to delight in your words, creativity and yummy wisdom. ;-)

    1. When I started blogging I only blogged for myself, and had little intention of keeping with it for this long. But then I started meeting like-minded people on-line and things changed :)

  6. I think you were in Swedish when I first found you. Those translations are always fun to read but not very informative. And I would miss alot if I still had to rely on that!
Thank you for all the fun we've had and I look forward to reading whatever direction your path takes.

    1. I have never bothered to copy + paste with blogs in foreign languages. Cudos to you for making the effort!

  7. That is interesting about you being a more public figure so wanting anonymity of blog, I love the way you are so truthful in your words and if you need to not use your name to do that, then don't change :) hope things work out with your partner soon and less shopping more sewing sounds good, I want to make a cloth doll this year, we'll see how we go!

    1. Oh Tami, I want to comment on your posts, but your format won't let me! Since I don't have a Google+ account I just can't comment :(

  9. I hope you're okay, I can't believe the decision still hasn't arrived! It's good to see that you're keeping your mind slightly occupied by joining in with the blog hop. Have fun with it :)

I was trying to remember when I first started following your blog. It was probably when my blog and shop were called 'My Haunted Attic' and we may have 'met' during a 'May Monster Madness' blog hop, but I'm not sure.

    Have a great Sunday :)

    1. I have to admit I am not at full blog-party capacity right now :(
I also have no idea when I met any of my blog friends, except that most of my followers are from the last year. It really is an exponential growth system in the blog world.

  10. I love this post...nicely done...I do want to grow but I am finding it hard. Any suggestions? I welcome all.

    Thank you or sharing.

    1. The only ways I know for your blog to grow is to put in alot of time and work;

Read and comment on many different blogs every week, and post on your own at least once a week. Reply to all comments you get, within a few days. Join as many blog parties as you can and have as many giveaways as you can afford :)

I think until you reach a few hundred followers you will have to put in twice as much as you are getting. You have to put yourself out there, try to be seen as much as possible. After that I think the tables start to turn and you can reap the benefits, but that can probably take a few years.

  17. I have enjoyed reading your blog very much. I have spent most of my day cleaning my closet and your year without shopping sounds like a very good idea right now. Thanks for sharing.

Lately I have been falling behind answering comments, for many reasons. But I read and cherish all of them! Your comments make my day, yay!
