Toy Halloween up-cycling

This is a Happy Meal toy from McDonald's.
It's Morgana from the Disney movie 'The Little Mermaid II'.
I never saw the movie, and when I saw her in a sea of toys at a yard sale
a few years ago, all I could see was what she could become.

I made her a hat and a cape, gave her a broom, added a glittery skirt
to cover her tentacles and painted the orb in her hand to look like a pumpkin.
At the time I had the playing part of a music box lying around,
and I decided to use it. So I made a new music box, made little pumpkins
out of styrofoam balls and attached Morgana to the spinning wheel.

Now she's a Halloween witch! Playing a weird melancholy tune...

On a related note, I just received the Halloween shipment for the store!
For anyone who isn't Swedish it would be the lamest assortment of goods
in the history of celebrating Halloween... but it made my day :)
Among the stuff were some silly masks - so this one's for you guys:

  6. Love the altered make over you've done, you've completely transformed her and she looks brilliant. I know what you mean about lack of Halloween goodies in the shops, there is not much in England either, at least not around me. I go green with envy when I see what the American shops are selling.

Yay for Ms. Misantropia - single-handedly bringing Hallowe'en to Sweden! :D

  8. BRILLIANT! You did the most awesome job transforming that toy into a Halloween witch! I recently snagged a vintage kewpie doll (in its original packaging) on ebay for about $5.00. I couldn't resist. I have a vague plan for turning her into something dark when I've got a bit of time. :)

We have a distinct lack of Halloween goodies in Australia too. :)

    1. I had to google Kewpie, but they are perfect for "dark transformations"! If you haven't yet, you should totally sign up for:

  9. Wow, she looks awesome, you did a great job transforming her! I used to sew gothy and Halloween outfits for my Barbie dolls, but yout Morgana just had the perfect face for an evil witch! ;)

You don't have Halloween goodies in Sweden? They sell cheap and cheesy stuff like these masks - they're fun, but really cheesy...!:P - in Hungary as well, but nothing really worth buying...:(

Exactly, we have very little Halloween stuff over here, and it's distinctly cheap and targeted towards kids :(

    1. I think this toy must be almost 10 years old now, so they are probably pretty hard to find. But I'm sure there are other Happy Meal toys out there just itching for an upgrade :)

    And the masks? Creepy fabulous!

On a different note, I've given you an award. It comes with a rather unusual request, so let's see how it goes: http://pagan-culture.blogspot.com/2013/09/hypocrites-arent-lovely.html
