For me, tomorrow is the official beginning of autumn, and therefore this weekend
also marks the start of two whole months of Halloween celebrations!
To kick off this wonderful time of year I harvested the brunt of our pumpkins.
Many of the pumpkins have been orange for well over a month,
but the green house is also over-run with mildew after the unusually hot summer.
So even though there are about as many left on the vines that wouldn't be ready
until in a month or so, we can't be sure of how they'll turn out.
Today we are going to a wedding and I have made another harvest gift basket
for the couple. Luckily we grew several small gift-size pumpkins this year,
so I haven't regretting parting with some - yet. But this is the last one! :)
You can't really tell through the cellophane but I lined the basket with white tulle,
then filled it with homegrown goodies, wine and fancy chocolate from the store,
a candle and some of my own homemade black and red currant jelly
and my gooseberry-cinnamon-apple jam. I also made matching tags and cards.
I really hope they like it. I'm not stellar at social engagements, so I'm a bit anxious.
