Whiter and Lighter - Spring clean(s)ing

I've had enough. Enough partying to last me until Midsummer's.
Enough upset stomach, enough hangovers and enough pounds piling on.

The other day I took a test to see how many calories
one actually consumes through drink. The result was shocking.
 I think I get almost 50% of my calorie intake from what I drink;
Vanilla Lattes, Coca Cola - and red, red wine... Calories I could be getting
from juicy sandwiches, creamy pasta dishes or chocolate fudge brownies.
Now, that just didn't sound good, even to my careless ears.

So I've made a decision, I'm cutting back. When Easter is over,
during the month of April, I will replace half of the Coke I drink with water
and I will only allow myself one glass of wine a day.
(But NO-ONE touches my Vanilla Latte! ;))

I've never hosted a party or an assignment before,
and I would never have imagined that the first one would have a healthy theme,
but since I'm doing this anyway I thought; Why not ask my fellow bloggers
if they'd like to join me in my Whiter and Lighter assignment for April?
Because everything gets easier with a little encouragement!

It doesn't have to be about addictive things like caffeine or alcohol for you.
This isn't even about dieting or losing weight (unless you want to).
This is only about doing a bit of Spring cleaning - inside or outside.

If you'd like to join, please go here:

I hope some of you guys will join me, it would be great doing this together!
Also, I am thinking about having a giveaway in connection with this assignment,
so keep a look out :) (If you guys want to host a giveaway too, feel free!)

  1. I'll join! During the winter months, I became very house-bound. Not wanting to venture forth. Now, with the advent of better weather & moving back to a larger city with public transportation, I want to change this.

    1. Great!
I know all about living far away from the city and public transportation. It's like I can't remember when I last actually walked somewhere, I have to take the car everywhere.

  2. I'll definitely join you, but I'll start promoting your even a bit earlier already, if you don't mind...! ;) I was going to write a very much needed Batfit - reboot post, and it would be great to link it with your Whiter and Lighter program! ;)

    1. I'm sure my assignment will go great with Bat Fit, so promote away - thank you!

  4. I will make every attempt to join =)
Though, the reason I want to join is the same reason it's not certain I will eheh...
I'll be here for morale support in any case!

Either way you are very welcome to join, or just to offer encouragement.

  5. Oh I had to laugh when I read your post. I drink Mocha's and I so agree with you. hahahaha.

    1. Spring cleaning your studio counts!
We had big spring cleaning plans this week, but then the snow started falling again, and the motivation kinda wore off...

  6. I, Magaly Guerrero, have no discipline to speak of when it comes to a good party *sigh*

I'm going for the "Lighter" bit. I think I'll focus on cleaning up my short story folder (I have a bunch I should edit one last time, put into a collection, and summit them for publication). And now that I'm back in NYC, I can follow petoskystone's steps and walk more.

I will taken by Witches in Fiction 2013 the first two and a half weeks of April, but I will have my posts after that. And I will check in often.

    1. Good to see you out and about (on-line) Magaly!

Cleaning ones physical space, organizing ones stuff often helps with the mental tidiness as well. You are welcome to join whenever you feel up for it!

  7. I think I'll just offer everyone moral support if that's okay, Ms. Misantropia? Although perhaps downsizing could be classified as making one's life lighter? Except I'm pretty sure everyone's bored reading about that - I know I'm bored talking about it! ;o)

    1. Moral support will be much appreciated Ms Insomniac! Downsizing counts, and is a good way to make your life lighter. Though am I imagining you talking about Weight Watchers in another post..?

      Radera
    2. Well, the downsizing of the house is going better than the downsizing of the waist, that's for sure! ;o)

  8. Oooh, giving up red wine? Now that's a tough one. Your blog party is inspiring, and I'd love to join in. I have no intention of giving up my own red wine, and beware to any unfortunate fingers that get between me and my glass...though I have cut back (because I ran out, and the freight boat to our little island isn't due back til next week)...anyway...I have been bogged down by nervousness, self-doubt, and social anxiety disorder my whole life. I'm in the process now of throwing those things off of my shoulders...or attempting to. I feel lighter already! I'm also an artist and have a tendency to collect things that I want to use for projects that I never seem to get around to...I will be ruthlessly culling the piled up mess that my studio has become. So if any of that fits in with what you've in mind for your Blogville Gathering, then I'm in! :-)

    1. Oh no, I'm not entirely giving it up, but definitely cutting down!
You live on an island? I can imagine it being hard to plan your drinking then ;) What you wrote sounds perfect for Whiter and Lighter. Welcome!

  9. I want to join! I want to throw away my negativity! I want to let in positive things when it comes to my lifestyle and things! If that fits (and it will correlate with my batfitting) then please blog party with me! I would love to promote now; I am planning a blog post soon anyway.

  10. How in the world did I miss this post? Sneeze ... Where has my head been? I'm in. I have to give this some thought, but as of now I think I will take this assignment quite literally. I've been meaning to really clean out this apartment. Perhaps April is a good month to do so.

    1. Cool, welcome! We've been meaning to do some proper spring cleaning too, but then we were hit with another super cold front and tons of snow, so it just didn't feel like spring at all suddenly...

  11. I need to really work on shopping less. I spend way too much money on clothes, shoes, etc. Good luck with cutting back on soda! I had to do that about a year ago for my health and it was an interesting experience. I agree with you on no one touching the lattes though.

    SvaraRadera
    Svar
    1. Yes, I think I will probably have some sugar withdrawal from lack of soda at some point during April...
Shopping less and instead focusing, organizing and using what you have is a great initiative!

    2. It's been the hardest thing I've ever done!
