Spring planning

It's the third day in a row now with the sun shining from a bright blue sky.
Even though the snow is gone it's feckin' freezing, like spring always is in Sweden
(even though Swedes - especially southern Swedes - refuse to acknowledge it)
but there is a noticeable collective rise in spirits.

February was pretty shitty for me, both physically and emotionally.
But I feel like I'm slowly getting back on track.
Yesterday I did yoga for the first time in weeks, and Cinnamon man and I have made
some cautious spring plans (since we still haven't heard from Immigrations...)
Planting seeds, parties, road trips and finishing the kitchen are all on the list.

This coming weekend I'm off for three days, and I'm hoping to fill them
with good food and drink, baking and some creative projects.
I made a little plack that says: Do more of what makes you happy.
And I really need to get on that.

  1. The sun's been shining bright all day long for almost a week now, and it's warmer as well. I love this early spring weather.

Do you do yoga at home? I've always been interested, but for some reason, I still haven't tried it...:/

    1. I've done yoga for many years, but I don't have the discipline to do it on my own at home, so I go to class. I'm doing Kundalini yoga now, a very meditative and slow kind of yoga. It's good for my busy mind and my stiff back.

  2. The sun's been shining since Sunday and it's been glorious! We're expecting rain again tomorrow and Thursday, but the last few days have been beautiful. It's been so nice waking up with the sun in my face. :)

The garden planting is in full swing -- can't wait to get into the garden! And I'm itching to open all the windows to air out this place. Before Easter I'm going to wash and wax the floors and wipe down the wooden surfaces with orange oil. It's time to spruce up the place. WAHOO!

    1. What are you guys growing this year? Do you have a big garden? Top priorities for me are tomatoes and pumpkins :)

    2. We currently have five raised beds that are 4 foot by 4 foot. We're adding another one this year. I'm planting in stages this year -- the spinach and cabbage are going into the ground first and will produce the first harvest in April, early May. Then the tomatoes, zucchini, yellow squash, kohlrabi, lettuces, Thai basil, cucumbers, eggplant and green beans. After the summer heat we'll do another round of spinach and cabbage. :) Busy, busy but I love it!

  3. I hope new blessings come for you with the return of the sun and the promise of Spring. As a Canadian up to my waist in snow I can hardly wait for the snow to recede and those first shoots of green to appear.

Doing more of what makes you happy is so important, have fun!!

  6. Well, as a Canadian in the next province over from Seeing Things, we got a HUGE dump of snow on Sunday (25cm), which pretty much shut the city down for a day, but today the sun is shining and everything is turning into a big slushy mess!

No garden for us this year, sadly. But your tomatoes and pumpkins sound lovely - I'll miss the pumpkins! :o)

Wow, still haven't heard from Immigrations? That's so hard to be in a state of not knowing like that. :o(

    1. It really is hard since we can't make any long term plans, and since he can't work in the mean time. But mostly the stress of maybe suddenly getting a letter in the mail saying he has to leave :(

  7. Hooray for long weekends! Even if you don't do anything, I hope that that nothing means just sitting and relaxing ;)

It is noticeably warmer outside here, but our home likes to take the opposite temperature we want it heh

    1. Is it an old house? Our cottage from 1870 definitely has it's temperature issues :)
